These Important Services Keep Your Fleet Vehicles Running Efficiently

Your drivers rely on you to keep their vehicles in the best shape possible. They cannot complete their routes in a timely manner if their fleet vehicles break down. Central Auto Care can keep your fleet vehicles running efficiently and safely with the following services, all of which take little time so the vehicles are back on the road quickly.

Battery Test

Battery tests are particularly important in the winter when the cold weather affects the battery’s ability to generate power. In fact, the chemical reaction inside of the battery can be reduced by as much as 60 percent if the mercury drops to minus 18 degrees Celsius. Your fleet drivers cannot afford to get stuck with a dead battery. Make sure to have the batteries tested regularly.

Brake Inspection

Brake inspections are also crucial to ensure the fleet drivers can slow down and stop the fleet vehicles every time they need to. Generally, it’s good to have the brakes inspected every 19,000 kilometres. Failure to do so can put your fleet drivers in danger if they are unable to stop the fleet automobile. If bad brakes are the determinant cause of an accident, you may end up legally liable for damages.

Fluid Check

We can also check the fluids to make sure they are clean and the reservoirs are full. This includes checking the engine coolant, brake fluid, transmission fluid, and oil. It’s important to have these fluids replaced when necessary. In the case of all of the fluids except the motor oil, they should generally be flushed and refilled every 48,000 kilometres. We’ll talk more about motor oil next.

Oil Change

Oil changes are crucial to protecting your fleet automobiles’ engines. You should have the oil changed every 4,800 kilometres to ensure the engines are lubricated and protected as best they can be. You’d be surprised how much more life you will get out of your fleet of vehicles if you change the oil regularly. Something as simple as this can literally add more kilometres to the engines.

Tire Inspection

Finally, it’s important to have the tires inspected regularly, as well. This allows us to see if the tires have picked up nails or screws, if the tread is wearing down unevenly, or if the sidewalls are cracking or bubbling. The tires on the fleet vehicles are an important safety mechanism, especially during the winter when the weather is wet and snowy. They must have adequate tread.
